Thirst and nervous energy at two cues that remind me to eat. When its my work day…..my biggest success is setting times to have breaks before I know I am going to need them. It is a huge challenge to make these happen but truly my best days are those days when I have my lunch break at 11:30 and hydration and protein snack around 2pm. I find I make the best choices and stay in a good place energy wise for the rest of the day.
It’s easy to tell if I’ve overeaten because I end up feeling bloated or uncomfortable (usually when I’m at a restaurant). At home, I usually portion out the amount of food I think I need. I’ve been trying to wait a half hour to see if I’m still hungry before deciding to have more.
I have been really trying to monitor my busy cues and being mindful of eating so that I do don’t over eat. I have also started taking a small portion and then going for me if I need, but really checking in if I do need more food before I take.
My stomach definitely grumbles when I’m hungry. I’ve also noticed that I get headaches if it’s been too long since I’ve eaten. Being at a busy job, it’s easy to ignore body cues that let us know you are hungry. I’m working on reading my body more and paying attention to these cues before I get hangry.
I love that you’re aware of those feelings of hunger. Many people rely on the clock to dictate meal times (nothing wrong with that, our society says that’s normal) but we have the church to thank for our traditional meal times. 😛
I’m glad you’re aware of this pattern as awareness is the first step to change. 🙂
So what hunger cues will you be looking out for before you get to the “hangry” stage?

Once you know, you can’t un-know 😛
Yes!

I agree with you, I don’t tend to follow set recipes. I’ll definitely try your suggestion above, it sounds easy and delicious.
I completely agree. It’s a noticeable difference.
